The Arthrostim® is unique in that it produces a rapid thrust and recoil rate
of 12 thrusts / second. This frequency is often referred to as the Low
Beta Somato-Motor Rhythm because of its profound effect on the nervous
system. This rapidity stimulates specialized nerve pathways that send
messages to the brain called proprioceptors and mechanoreceptors which inhibit the nociceptors. Nociceptors are the
patients pain sensing nerve pathways that carry pain messages to the
brain.
Also, these nociceptors are not stimulated by the Arthrostim® because of the
thrust and recoil. This means that the adjustment can be delivered
painlessly to patients of all ages. The Arthrostim® can be used on
anyone and is especially useful in our larger than average
patients or our pain sensitive patients.
The high speed, shallow thrust allows for the accumulation of force
that extends beyond the joints into the surrounding support tissues such
as tendons and ligaments. This effect releases secondary trigger points
and muscle spasm. Patients usually notice a positive difference with
the first treatment.
The VibraCusser® is also unique in that it adds a percussion dimension that addresses myofascial issues.
Percussion
is a new treatment modality for those who suffer from musculo-skeletal
pain and myofascial trigger syndrome. It is non-surgical, non-invasive
procedure that may serve as a therapeutic alternative to trigger point
and epidural injections. Performed on an outpatient basis, the VibraCusser® Percussion Instrument carries little or no risk
and is comfortable.
Fascia is the interwoven connective tissue that surrounds muscles and internal organs. Myofascial release is a therapeutic stretching technique that works to release restrictions present in this fascial tissue.
Some individuals suffer from musculoskeletal pain and local tenderness
in areas where fascia is affected. this maybe characteristic for individual muscles or characterize
myofascial trigger syndrome, and in those who experience referred pain
in a distribution specific for the individual muscle, the trigger or
affected area of muscle is firm or hard to palpation; sometimes it has a
ropy consistency and may appear contracted or in spasm. The VibraCusser®
provides vibration and osicilating forces that address and reduce the identified muscular spasm, myofascial trigger points and adhesions.

General Indications for VibraCusser® Percussion Instrument
- Adhesions
- Lymphatic Impairment
- Myalgia
- Post exertion muscle fatigue
- Trigger point
- Spasticity
The clinical benefits of the VibraCusser® Percussion
Instrument can reduce or eliminate the frequency and intensity of
myofascial trigger syndrome and musculoskeletal pain, decrease the need
for pain medication and greatly improve the ability to participate in
activities of normal daily living.
